Tree Gear - Treemotion harness

A Climbing harness is an important part of any climbing kit, buying a harness is a personal choice we all have different ideas about what we want from a harness. For me a harness should feel as unobtrusive as possible whilst providing good support and freedom of movement, my prefered harness is a Treemotion by the Treemagineers (see link for more info about the Treemagineers) I think this harness is one of the best thought out designs on the market. It has unparralled adjustment from all its supporting parts, gear placement and line anchoring.

Its key benefit are good back support that comes from the 3 webbing straps instead of one distributing your weight and the low placement of the back support around your hips and lower back instead of your waist and mid back. The aluminium connecting hardwear that allows the leg loops to float idependently and the thin rope bridge gives very fluid motion and allows you to move with little resitance. The centralised side D's as wellas the traditionalside D's also opens up more options when positioning yourself in the tree.

Karabiners come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, these are oval karabiners from DMM and Petzl I use the Petzl O.k for my main climbing line their symetrical shape allows me to rotate them 180 degrees so they are upside down this makes it esier to attach to my harness, there shape works particularly well with advanced friction hitches where you will have 2 legs of a hitch and pulley mounted on the karabiner, the shape allows it all to sit nice and central loading the karabiner effeciently. DMM ultra O is new to the market as yet i haven't tried one, if its anything like any of the other new karabiners from DMM i'm sure it will be the one to have.
